BOYS TRAVEL TEAMS SPRING 20102009
LONGWOOD HEAT
BU10 Travel
Longwood Heat BU10: Work Hard, Play Hard... That is the theme that Coach Anthony Desimone, works on with the Heat players at each and every practice and game. The Heat has had a very successful 2008/2009, finishing at the top of their division for both seasons. The Heat is now playing travel for the fall of 2009 season.
The Heat grew as a team with each and every game, as with all new teams the Heat have shown that they can be very successful, when they work together as a team. As a U9 team it is great to see the boys come together. When we first started practicing you saw that these boys really had a good feel for playing with each other. The boys displayed a good sense of knowing where each other should be and making some solid passes to score goals. Our defense was anchored by our goalie; that has really grown as a player and provides a solid last line of defense. This is only when our defense lets up a shot. The steady play of our defense enables the offensive to break out. Our defenders display a great range of speed and ball skill that shuts down most teams.
This winter the Heat played indoor ball at Southbay Sportsplex, the Heat completed a solid season with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses. The Heat had an opportunity to take 1st place but lost to the MYO Strikers on the final game of the season, to take a respectable 2nd place.
The Heat currently practice twice a week, and are professionally trained. If you are interested in learning more about the Heat please checkout our website at www.longwoodheat.com.

It has been an exciting year for the Lightning Lions. In fall 2008, the Lions went on to win their division going undefeated with a record of 9 wins and 0 losses. As a team we scored over 55 goals, while only giving up 22 goals. On top of winning the division I was most proud of the fact that we won a Bronze Chervon Sportsmanship Award. For those of you who are not familiar with travel soccer both teams are given sportsmanship points for each game, these points based on everything from uniforms to conduct of player, coaches and parents etc... I am proud to say that the Lions have won this award each year, over the last 4 years.
In the spring of 2009 the Lions moved up to Division 6E, as with our jump to a higher division the competition became more difficult, the Lions took it in stride and played solid throughout the season. The Lions finished the spring 2009 season with a record of 3 wins 4 losses and 2 ties. On top of that the Lions won the Sportmanship Award for our division, as a result the Lions will be honored at a LIJSL dinner in October of 2009.
For the fall of 2009 the Lions would like to welcome two new players in Zack S, and Joao P, we also say goodbye to Wesley P. The Lions had a successful summer participating in two tournaments, the East End Tourmenent in which the Lions placed 5th with 2 wins and 3 loss, and most recently a 1st place finish in the HBC Labor Day Tournament in the Gold Division.
