"C" Certification Course Coming to Longwood This Fall!
This is a must for anyone interested in applying for a travel coach position.
When: October 28th, November 4th, 11th and 18th
Where: West Middle Island Elementary School Gyms
Time: 6:30-9:30 pm
*The cost of the course is totally refunded to LYSA participants upon successful completion.
What is the "C" Course?
The Long Island Junior "C" Course is designed for those coaches who will be coaching and training youth soccer players from U10 to U13. The course covers the philosophy of coaching youth players, the laws of the game, games approach to teaching technique, care and prevention of injuries, coaching parents, teaching games, positional concepts(team shape), and positive vs negative reinforcement. Although this course is directed toward travel coaches we encourage those Intramural coaches who will be coaching and training the above age groups to also take this course. Successful participants will receive a LIJSL "C" Diploma and NSCAA State Diploma.

WAY TO GO GU13 LONGWOOD CYCLONES! WALDBAUM'S CUP FINALISTS!
The Cyclones won 3 rounds in the Waldbaum's Cup to earn their way into the finals. The girls battled hard as they tried to hold on to their 1-0 lead over Brentwood for the championship. Unfortunately, Brentwood pulled ahead in the end, winning 2-1. The girls are proud to be runner's up and are looking forward to next season! Great Job Cyclones!

The 3rd annual Travel/Interleague Festival night is scheduled for Thursday, June 18th at the Longwood Middle School from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. All Travel & Interleague teams have been invited to participate. Teams will participate in (2) 20 minute round-robin scrimmages. All Interleague teams and U9-U12 Travel teams will be awarded their trophies. Teams are encouraged to plan a picnic and have some fun! The evening's schedule will be posted on or before Monday, June 15th.

Dear Coaches, Just a reminder that this upcoming league weekend October 25-26 is Players Only Weekend and will be observed for all league games The goals are quite simple:
1. Develop our players thinking and creative ability to make decisions on the field without constant sideline intervention.
2. Improve the players’ ability to communicate with each other on the field by reducing the outside noise level.
3. Support ALL of our referees by eliminating ALL sideline dissension and intervention.
The guidelines are also quite simple:
1. Spectators are encouraged to listen for communication among the players and cheer (not instruct) for good plays by either team. Negative comments about any player or official are to be avoided.
2. Coaches are asked to refrain from the constant barrage of instruction during the course of the game.
3. Referees and coaches will acknowledge substitutions by having players standing at the halfway line ready to go in.
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and simply watch the Beautiful Game, hopefully played in beautiful weather. Coaches and/or spectators that don’t adhere to this policy will receive 0 points in the appropriate sportsmanship rating. Thank you for your cooperation,

Congratulations Longwood Twisters (GU11) for winning 1st place at the Long Island Soccer Shoot Out Tournament on Aug 16th & 17th. The Twisters defeated all the teams in their division to earn the title "Team Champions"! Awesome team effort! Way to play girls!

Congratulations to the Longwood Heat (BU9) pre-travel team.
The entire team played strong at the East End Tournament placing 2nd in their division; with 1 win, 1 loss, and 3 ties.
Way to go Heat!

51% of the players must be the correct age with a potential of 49% of players playing UP. The age group of the team is determined by the age of there oldest player on the roster.
